New Year Details: Rules and Schedules

The new school year is fast approaching at our house. This year, we are starting much earlier than usual due to the baby coming in September. We will be starting school on July 11 and completing our first quarter on September 9. Then we have "Baby Break" until October 10, when we will start back up and finish our first semester just before Christmas as usual.

With a new year always comes new details...I spend my summer break tweaking rules, schedules, and curriculums in an attempt to make things work even better the upcoming year than they did the previous year.

This year, we have a new set of rules and a new schedule, which I am sharing with you here.

Obey all house rules, including sticking to the house schedule.

Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

~ COLOSSIANS 3:20

Use only gentle hands and feet. Touch people in love rather than in anger.

Better a patient person than a warrior,

one with self-control than one who takes a city.

~ PROVERBS 16:32

Clean up any mess you see, even if you didn't make it.

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

~ GALATIANS 6:2

Do everything without complaining.

Do everything without grumbling or arguing.

~ PHILIPPIANS 2:14

Use self control even when angry.

Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

~ EPHESIANS 4:31-32

Speak only loving words - "If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all."

Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

~ COLOSSIANS 4:6

Help out anyone who needs help at any time.

Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.

~ 1 PETER 3:8

Wait your turn patiently - to play, to pick, to talk, to get help.

Whoever is patient has great understanding,

but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.

~ PROVERBS 14:29

Do things right the first time - or you will do it over.

All hard work brings a profit,

but mere talk leads only to poverty.

~ PROVERBS 14:23

Use encouraging words with everyone.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

~ EPHESIANS 4:29

Show respect to everyone at all times - respect for thoughts and opinions, for personal space, personal time, and personal property.

Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God...

~ 1 PETER 2:17
